WORK CONDITIONS
Most subjects are carried out in their cabinets. The classrooms are audio-visually relatively well-equiped. A lot is being invested in the contemporization of classes and in teachers' teaching progress. Local community participates by funding the adaptation of the school. The school owns 25 PC's for educational and administrative purposes. We use wireless Internet which is available to all studens.
CORE AND OPTIONAL CLASSES
Starting from the first grade, students have obligatory and optional subjects. Obligatory subjects comprize of mother tongue, Mathematics, Physical Education, Music, World around Us, and English. Optional subjects are: Folk Tradition, Nature Keepers, Hands in the Dough, From Toys to Computers. Students choose one from the given optional subjects. Additional classes are organized for challenged students, but the teachers also organize clubs for the gifted. The second foreign language, German or Spanish, is introduced in the fifth grade.
EXTENDED DAY-CARE
Day-care is a perfect solution for the parents who are employed. Students are in the right hands of teachers who look after them. Day-care is open until 5pm. Time in the day-care is spent on homeworks, creative workshops, snacks and lunch.
SHOWS or CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC MANIFESTATIONS
Following dates are celebrated every year:
Sep 1, when we formally welcome our students to their desks
Oct 2, which is the day of our school
Jan 27 – St. Sava, which is our slava.
June – we formally bid our eight-graders farewell by giving them their certificates of completed primary education.
Students and teachers artistically present school's life. At these festivities, we give awards to the most successful ones, and praise to contributors who help raise our school's quality.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
This school cooperates with other schools. Various sports competitions are organized where students chek out their skills. Kid's Week is held during the first week of October. Students set up exhibitions, organize a fair, and buy necessities for their classes with the money they raised. During summer, our children participate in various scientific, explorational, art, and sports camps. Each year, our best student has the chance to take part in Petnica Science Centre.
STUDENTS' PARLIAMENT
Student's parliament is led by students from the seventh and the eighth grade. Parliament makes decisions significant to their life in school, and organizes parties, sports events, and humanitarian fund-raisers.
COMPETITIONS
Expanding their knowledge, our students with the help from their teachers win prizes on the national, and even international level. In competition Siemens 2005, our team won the first place in Europe. For the third year in a row, we have taken part in the maths competition «Kangaroo without Limits» and won the first place with fourth-graders. Our first-aid team has been top-notch year after year. Last year, our first-aid team participated in a Red-Cross Serbia camp on Vrsacki Hill.
EXCURSIONS AND FIELD TRIPS
Our students are getting familiarized with the richness of natural beauties of Serbia by going to her well-known mountains, national parks, historical monuments and monasteries. Naturally, these trips are our students' favorites. photo gallery>>
LECTURES AND VISITS
Our school is an open system and always ready to cooperate with organisations and individuals. Tripo Simonuti, the famous violin player, has visited us and gave a show. Our Jurnalist Club sends articles to local newspapers and kids' magazines' boards.
SCHOOL IN NUMBERS
On the school premises there are two buildings. There are 50 teachers and 581 students involved in the educational process. Nine people work in the maintenance. Education is eight years long, divided into two cycles: the first one is from the first until the fourth grade, and the second one is from the fifth until the eighth grade. There are 25 classes of students in total.
